Monday December 16,2002
Well first off i just want to say thank you to everyone that came to the show
on Saturday night. We had a great time, be sure to watch for BLACK EARTH'S return
and come see the band again.
Now, as mentioned in the last update. The X-Rated Movie I talked about is the
latest release from " SHANE'S WORLD ". BLACK EARTH has some original
music in the movie. Now this is the movie that has been talked about non-stop
on every news program (cable or otherwise) I know of for the past month and
a half or more. It was filmed on the "Indiana University" campus right here
in good ol' Bloomington, Indiana, and the locals have lost their fucking minds.
Officials at the University have really went ape fuck over the movie being filmed
at I.U., and have even threatened to take legal action against the company.
It is the most hyped Film to ever be released by Shanes World, and one of the
Adult Film Industries most controversial films ever.
Make sure you get your copy. It will be released tomorrow (Tuesday December
17,2002). It is titled "Shanes World: #32 Campus Invasion".
I would personally like to thank Mandi and all at Shanes World/Simplefilms for
putting our music in the film.
Get your copy today at www.shanesworld.com.
Be sure to check out the new picture page on the website and the Black Earth
"Page of Fame". Stay Heavy.

There is quite a few things to tell you about in this update.
1st off a company in Austin, TX is putting together concerts in selected areas
across the U.S. and having a handful of bands (from that designated area) perform
at these shows. Each bands set will be filmed along with an interview segment
and some additional footage of the bands just hanging out in their own environment.
There used to be a show on the " USA NETWORK " called " FARMCLUB ". I think
it is the same kind of idea, but a little bit different. They are currently
in negotiations with MTV, VH1, and MUCHMUSIC as possible networks to air the
show. I'm happy to say that " BLACK EARTH " has been chosen to play at the show
that will take place in the area closest to us. I will keep you up to date on
it's progress.
2nd, BLACK EARTH is currently talking to a major film company that makes " FULL
LENGTH ADULT FEATURE FILM'S " (yes xxx, porn movies) about using some of our
original music in an upcoming film. Again, I will let you know more on this
when I get final conformation from them.
3rd, a new review has been added to the reviews page. A positive review from
" BEYOND WEBZINE ". Go see what they had to sat about BLACK EARTH.
We are still booking shows for the rest of 2002 and now into 2003. I should
have a date for " 7th Street " in Bedford, IN by Saturday. Make sure you check
out the shows and booking page for those dates.
There is a few more things in the works that I'm not going to tell you about
until I know more about them. I don't want to jinx them, but I will say that
one of them will be HUGE for the band if it comes together the way we are planning.
Thanks again for your continued support of BLACK EARTH.
Saturday October

Black Earth would like to say thanks to all of you that come to see the band
play live and enjoy what we do.
We also want to thank those of you that have e-mailed request's for copies of
the 4-song demo or other question's or comment's concerning the band.
We have a few show's coming up in the next few weeks, and we are still booking
more locally and otherwise.
Check the show's and booking page for all show listing's.
We will be at OPIE'S in Bardstown, KY this weekend and would like to thank our
friends in " The Outrace " for hooking us up with the show.
You can check them out at "www.theoutrace.com".
This will be an incredibly " KILLER " show, so I hope you can get out to see
it.

I haven't updated in a while, because not too much is happening right now. We
are working on getting a few more covers, as well as some new originals together,
as we plan to be playing on a more consistent schedule in the coming months.
Friday August

Whats up? It's been a while since the last update, because I have been kind
of busy and just haven't had a chance to get to it. BLACK EARTH has officially
aquired a much needed and long overdue Manager. The band would like to thank
Brian from "AxGrinder Music" in Bakersfield, Ca for all the work he has been
doing for the band in the last couple of weeks.
If for some reason you feel the need to contact him, his info is on the "Shows
and Booking" page, and a direct link to his e-mail is on the "Home" page. In
the next few weeks I hope to have a few more Show dates to add to the site.
There are a couple of shows that we had re-scheduled by the club. When those
dates are final I will post them.
We are also currently looking into getting some BLACK EARTH T-Shirts made, but
it's just a matter of money. We do have a show coming up on Saturday Sept. 7th
at the "Free spirit Hoosier National Forest". If you can make it out please
do so. Check back soon for more updates and show dates, I will try to stay on
top of the updates.
Tuesday August
06,2002
Hey everyone, this is just a quick update. BLACK EARTH will be playing Saturday
Aug. 10th in downtown Bloomington
at "People's Park". Which is located on the corner of Kirkwood Ave. (5th st.)
& Dunn st. in Bloomington.
This is an outdoor show and is open to all ages. The show will start around
7:00pm, with 1-2 other bands also on the bill.
I know this is short notice, but if you can make it please come see the show.
Monday July 29,2002
Whats going on? A few things have changed since the last update. The "Uncle Festers"
show for Aug. 3rd has been pushed back to Aug. 24th, so don't come out on the
3rd to see us because we won't be there.
Also, the show at "RUMORS SPORTS BAR" in Bloomfield, IN is Being re-scheduled
for a later date due to some problems they had with double bookings. But that
happens, no big deal, and I'll post the new date as soon as i have it for sure.
We have made a couple of changes to the site as well, like a new logo and a
different start page. Time to do something different, and if it looks better,
thats a plus.
Well take it easy and make sure to come out and see the band at the shows we
have coming up.
Wednesday July
10,2002
Due to unforseen happenings the " DAY OF METAL " show set for Aug 24th has been
cancelled. Which really sucks, because I was really looking forward to doing
the show with all the other bands.
The " GOTH IN THE GLEN " fest has also undergone some changes. It has been moved
to September, and the location has also changed. I will update you on the changes
a.s.a.p.
Don't forget to come see BLACK EARTH at "Uncle Festers" on Saturday Aug 24th.
The show will start around 10:00 or so. Hope to see you there.
Wednesday July
3,2002
Not a lot happening at the moment. BLACK EARTH has relocated from their original
practice place to a new one, and are just getting settled in. Things will be
back to normal for us soon. As of right now our next show will be back at "Uncle
Festers" Saturday on Aug 3rd. I hope everyone can make it out to the show. We
are hoping to have some of the new music we have been working on finished and
ready to jam for you.
We have finally got a page up for Craig our newest member, so log on and check
it out. Well I hope everyone has a safe and fun 4th of July, and i'll update
again soon so keep checking back.
Sunday June 23,2002
I want to thank everyone that came out to see BLACK EARTH at "Uncle Festers"
and at "Summerblast" in Bedford this weekend. If you a want to get updates about
the band the best way to do it is to sign up on the mailing list that is at
the bottom of the intro page to the website. That way your e-mail address will
by added to the list that we send out. If you come to a BLACK EARTH show sign
up on the mailing list that we have there as well. The list on the website is
just easier, faster, and more affordable.
Well thanks again, and check back soon for updates and for dates of any new
shows the we are in the process of booking.
Wednesday May
29,2002
BLACK EARTH has been kind of busy so It's been a couple of weeks since the last
update. We don't have any show's coming up till next month so we are planning
to work on some unfinished material. I want to thank the guy's in BLOODBORNE
for letting us come up to Ft. Wayne and rock out with them. BLACK EARTH would
also like to thank TRI-R ENTERTAINMENT (Ryan & Kevin) for letting us open for
C4 at Kilroys Sports Bar. we had a great time and hope to do it again sometime
very soon.
Tuesday May 14,2002
Not a whole lot to talk about this week, but I do Want to thank the guys in
SEED and THE EXHAUSTION METHOD for letting BLACK EARTH open the show for them
at the UAW Hall in Bedfore, IN this weekend. We had a great time, and we hope
to do it again soon. I also want to thank all the people that came out to support
BLACK EARTH and local heavy music in general. Without your support it doesn't
happen, you help keep it alive. Thanks again.
Sunday April 28,2002
I would like to thank everyone that came out to see BLACK EARTH on Saturday
night at "Rumors Sports Bar" in Bloomfield, IN. The band would also like to
thank Brad G. and all the staff at "Rumors" for so being cool and letting BLACK
EARTH play at the club. Last but not least, we wanna thank the guys in "MAJORITY
RULES" for coming out and opening the show for BLACK EARTH.
We are still booking some shows right now so come see the band if we are in
your area. Be sure to come see BLACK EARTH in Bedford,IN on May 11th with our
friends in "SEED" at the UAW Hall.(see shows and booking for more info)
Monday April 22,2002
Whats up? Haven't updated in a while (again). The band has been working on new
music as well as some cover songs. Have no fear, we are not turning into a cover
band, we are just trying to open doors for the band by getting shows at clubs
that wouldn't usually book BLACK EARTH because we are an all original band.
Writing and playing our own music has been and will always be BLACK EARTH's
main focus, this is just a way to reach more people with the music we are writing.
So i hope you will come see the band when we are in your area.
BLACK EARTH will be playing at "Rumors Sports Bar" in Bloomfield, IN on Saturday
April 27th (this saturday). It is somewhat short notice, but we are gonna give
it a shot anyway. "MAJORITY RULES" is the name of the band that will be opening
the show on Saturday, so get there early and check them out.
We might be playing a show in Bedford,IN on May 11th with some friends of ours
from a band called "SEED". you can check them out online at www.seedband.com.
More details about this show will be added soon so check back.
Don't miss the show on August 24th, with BLACK EARTH, THUNDERCORE, C4, and more
TBA later. C4 is the name of Guitar Virtuoso "Michael Angelo's" new band (Holland
and Nitro fame). Michael is one of the most incredible guitar players that I
have ever seen, to see him do his thing live is worth the price of admition
by itself, not including the other great bands that will be there.
Guitar players be warned, if you are easily discouraged this guy will make you
want to give it up.
Well thats about it for now, but check back for more info on the May 11th and
the August 24th shows.
ALL HAIL THE NEW FLESH.
Monday April 8,2002
I haven't updated in a few weeks, just been busy. Well there isn't really to
much going on for the next couple of weeks, the band is just finishing up some
new song's right now. I want to thank Todd and the rest of the guys in RUMOR
FACTOR for letting us play with them at 7th street in Bedford, IN on March 30th,
as well as all the people that came out to the show. We had a great time as
always.
We still have a number of shows in the works but nothing is set in stone yet
so i don't really want to give out details until I'm sure about everything.
Just keep checking the shows and booking page for updates.
Friday March 29,2002
Come out and see the show tomorrow night at 7th street lounge in Bedford, IN.
BLACK EARTH will be opening up for RUMOR FACTOR, we will start at 9:00pm so
get there early. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE.
Tuesday March
26,2002
I just wanted to give you a little info about the "GOTH IN THE GLEN" Goth Fest
that BLACK EARTH will be playing at in october. BLACK EARTH will be playing
saturday oct. 5th from what i know right now. For more info go to www.elflore.org.
There you can find out admission prices and directions to "LOTHLORIEN NATURE
SANCTUARY". For directions click on the "Magickal Events" link and you should
be able to get the directions from another link on that page.
Monday March 18,2002
I want to thank the bands that came out saturday to UNCLE FESTER'S and jammed
with us, SALEMS CHILDE, & THUNDERCORE. I also want to thank everyone that came
out to see the show as well. We are currently booking some shows, but none are
for sure yet. Keep an eye on the SHOWS & BOOKING page for dates and times. Summertime
will be here before we know it, so people have started booking shows for that
time of year which seem to be outside shows or festivals. We are currently involved
in a couple of cool one's but i just don't know all the details as of yet but
they will be posted as i find out more.
Monday March 11,2002
Well if you have been paying any attention to the x-103 st.patty's day contest,
I'm sure you know that BLACK EARTH was not selected as a finalist. I'm sure
that all of the bands that were selected are very good, so i don't feel bad
about not making the cut. However next time i hope that they will choose bands
that play the same type of music as the headliner, because i know that a couple
of the bands are not even close to what i would call metal. Whats next MORBID
ANGEL opening for MARIAH CAREY? Maybe THE BACKSTREET BOYS opening for SLAYER.
You get the picture don't you? Congrats to all the finalist, like I said they
are all deserving and good bands in their selected genre of music be it metal
or otherwise. And a big right on to x-103 for doing their part to support the
local music scene.
One of the shows i mentioned in the last update set for later in 2002 will take
place in August, and is being called " A DAY OF METAL ". keep checking back
for updates on this show as they will be posted as i get them.
Sunday March 10,2002
We are booking a few shows here and there so watch the shows and booking page
for updates. We don't have it confirmed yet, but we may be back at 7th street
in Bedford,IN to do an opener for the guys in RUMOR FACTOR. If it happens the
show will be on Saturday March 23rd, so come out and see the show.
In the last update I said that the IU students would be in town for the MARCH
16th show at UNCLE FESTER'S, but i have since been told that this will be the
week of spring break. Oh well, it should still be a good show.
We are looking at a date in MAY to play at Legends in Ft.Wayne, IN, a Goth Fest
in southern,IN later in the year, another INDIANA festival (date and location
not yet confirmed) dedicated to all types of metal from what i have been told,
plus whatever happens to be booked in between.
Sunday March 03,2002
I haven't updated this page in a couple of weeks, so there are a few things
to talk about since last time. We have finally got the band member bios up for
you to check out, so give the member page a look and read through the bios.
We are still working in another guitar player, but we have started looking into
booking some shows now that it seems like everything is going to be cool with
the new guy.
We have a date on the show at UNCLE FESTER'S, it will be on Saturday March 16,2002.
Which is the day before St.Patricks day and the IU students are going to be
in town for this show so hopefully some of them will come in and check out the
show along with the locals. It should be a good night. I hope to see you there.
The band has been entered into a contest (for lack of a better word) that a
local radio station (X-103 www.wrzx.com) has put together in which they will
choose 3 local bands to open for SOIL at The Vogue in Indianapolis,IN on St.Patricks
day. The 3 local bands will be judged and the one that is chosen as the better
band will win radio airplay, studio time, an invitation to play at XFEST 2002,etc.
We felt that this would be a great way to get the name out, and present the
band to a larger audience. We hope we are picked to play the show, because even
if we don't come out as the overall winner it will still be a good thing. WISH
US LUCK.
Well i think thats about it for right now. Come see the show on the 16th at
UNCLE FESTERS and check back to see about the SOIL gig on st.pattys day, because
if BLACK EARTH is chosen it will be posted a.s.a.p. LATER.
Sunday Feb 10,2002
Not to much going on right now with BLACK EARTH. We are in the process of working
in another guitar player,a guy named Craig "shred the impaler" Savage. Great
player and a cool guy.
BLACK EARTH will be playing at "Uncle Fester's" in Bloomington again sometime
in late Feb or early March. Check the shows and booking page for updates on
this and other shows as they are posted.
Monday Jan 14,2002
Finally the website is up and running. It's been a major pain with all kinds
of problems. But now it's up and I hope you will check back from time to time
and see what's going on with the band.
Black Earth is currently working on new music and we are hoping to release a
full length CD some time this year, so we don't have any shows booked at this
time. Along with writing some new tunes, We are in the process of booking some
shows as well as shopping our demo to a few labels.
We are looking into booking some shows in Chicago,IL & Louisville,KY(but will
play anywhere). Any bands out there into trading shows contact us and we'll
see about getting them together.
We are trying to update the site as often as we can with news, pictures, etc.
The band member personal bios should be up by the end of the week, which should
hold a little more info on each member of the band. Also, a picture page with
live shots and whatever else we see fitting.
I want to thank Todd and the rest of the guys in "RUMOR FACTOR" for letting
"BLACK EARTH" open up the show for them at "7th Street" in Bedford,IN a couple
of weeks ago. I hope we can do it again soon. Check them out at www.rumorfactor.com.
I also want to thank everyone for coming out to see the show at "UNCLE FESTER'S"
in Bloomington,IN on Dec 21st, as well as the other bands BLUESCREEN, SIXIDED,
AND THUNDERCORE.
BLACK EARTH would like to welcome "Steve Johnson" from "RUJO PUBLICITY" aboard
and thank him for the hard work he has put into the band thus far.
